Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), you will be warmly welcomed by Surabi Lanka Travels representative, who will assist you with your luggage and escort you to your vehicle.
You’ll then be transferred to your first destination, the coastal town of Negombo. Spend the rest of the day relaxing after your flight. Enjoy the sea breeze, unwind by the beach, and prepare for your spiritual journey across the island’s sacred Buddhist sites.
After breakfast, proceed to Anuradhapura, the first capital of ancient Sri Lanka and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This sacred city flourished for over 1,300 years and remains one of the most venerated Buddhist sites in the world.
Visit:
Sri Maha Bodhi Tree – the sacred Bo tree grown from a sapling of the original Bodhi tree in India under which Lord Buddha attained Enlightenment.
Ruwanweliseya Dagoba – a magnificent stupa built by King Dutugemunu, considered a symbol of devotion and unity.
Jetavanaramaya Dagoba – one of the tallest brick structures in the ancient world.
Thuparamaya – the oldest stupa in Sri Lanka, enshrining the Buddha’s collarbone relic.
If time permits, you may also visit Lovamahapaya (Brazen Palace), Abhayagiriya Monastery, Twin Ponds, and the serene Samadhi Buddha Statue.
After breakfast, visit the Aukana Buddha Statue, one of the finest examples of ancient Sri Lankan sculpture, standing 40 feet tall and carved out of solid granite.
On your return journey, stop at Mihintale, known as the “Cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.” This sacred mountain marks the place where Mahinda Thero, the son of Emperor Ashoka of India, met King Devanampiyatissa and introduced Buddhism to Sri Lanka.
Climb the Mihintale rock to visit the Kantaka Cetiya, Ambasthala Dagoba, and Aradhana Gala, from where the monk Mahinda is believed to have called the king.
After breakfast, travel to Polonnaruwa, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and the second capital of ancient Sri Lanka.

Gal Vihara, featuring four magnificent Buddha statues carved into one granite rock.
Lankathilaka Temple, Rankoth Vehera, and Kiri Vehera.

After breakfast, visit the world-famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Climb the majestic rock citadel built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD, adorned with beautiful frescoes of celestial maidens and surrounded by landscaped water gardens.

Then visit Ibbankatuwa Megalithic Burial Site, located nearby, to explore ancient cultural heritage. Continue your journey through scenic landscapes to Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka and home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa).
