Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, meet your personal chauffeur-guide and begin your exciting journey toward Yala, located in the southeastern dry zone. The drive takes you through rustic villages, paddy fields, and scenic countryside a perfect warm-up for your lens!
Arrive and check in at your wildlife lodge bordering Yala National Park. Take the evening to unwind, explore the property, and capture the golden hues of dusk settling over the wilderness. Prepare your camera gear for tomorrow’s adventure.
Photo opportunities: Birds at the lodge garden, wild peacocks, langurs, and sunset skies.
Rise early with your camera ready for a full-day safari in the famous Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s premier wildlife destination and home to the highest density of leopards in Asia.
Accompanied by an experienced tracker, explore deep into the park’s diverse habitats from grasslands to lagoons and rock outcrops.
Spot and photograph leopards, elephants, sloth bears, sambar deer, crocodiles, and an abundance of birdlife.
Enjoy breakfast and lunch picnic-style inside the park for uninterrupted shooting. Return to the lodge by evening with a treasure trove of images.
Highlights: Leopards at dawn, elephants bathing, golden-hour backdrops of the Yala plains.
Early morning, set out for Bundala National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and paradise for bird photographers.
This wetland sanctuary is home to over 200 bird species, including flamingos, painted storks, pelicans, kingfishers, and a variety of migratory waders.
Photograph flocks in flight, elegant reflections in the lagoons, and the vibrant palette of wetland life.
After your session, return to Yala to relax and review your images.

After breakfast, travel to Udawalawe National Park (approx. 3 hours).
This park is world-renowned for its large elephant herds and is a favorite among wildlife photographers for its open terrain and dramatic backdrops.
During your jeep safari, capture elephants, buffaloes, jackals, and raptors in their natural environment.
Later, visit the Elephant Transit Home, where orphaned baby elephants are cared for before being released back into the wild.
Best shots: Elephant herds crossing the savanna, calves playing, golden sunset silhouettes.
After breakfast, journey toward Deniyaya, the lush entrance to the Sinharaja Rainforest, Sri Lanka’s last surviving stretch of primary tropical rainforest.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a photographer’s dream a living museum of biodiversity.
Enjoy an afternoon walk in the forest buffer zone to observe colorful butterflies, tree frogs, exotic orchids, and tropical birds.
Best shots: Dew-draped leaves, misty forest canopy, and macro shots of jungle life.
Wake up to the sound of birdsong and venture into Sinharaja Rainforest with a specialist naturalist guide.
Spend the morning exploring dense green trails alive with endemic flora and fauna.
Keep your lenses ready for the Sri Lanka Blue Magpie, Red-Faced Malkoha, Ceylon Hanging Parrot, and other endemics. The diffused forest light creates ideal shooting conditions for capturing texture and mood.

After breakfast, travel to Mirissa, a tranquil coastal town known for its golden beaches and fishing heritage.
Arrive and check in at your beach resort. In the evening, take your camera for a sunset walk along the harbor and nearby fishing villages, capturing daily life, colorful boats, and fishermen returning with their catch.
Best shots: Fishermen portraits, sunset reflections, boats lined along the bay.
Early morning, set sail on an ocean photography cruise from Mirissa to capture one of nature’s most spectacular sights Blue Whales and Spinner Dolphins.
Sri Lanka’s southern waters are among the world’s best locations for photographing these magnificent marine mammals.
Enjoy the thrill of watching them breach and dive while keeping your lens ready for that perfect shot.
Return by late morning and spend the afternoon at leisure.
Best shots: Blue Whale tail flukes, dolphins leaping, seascape panoramas.
Spend another day exploring the southern coastal belt. Visit Weligama’s stilt fishermen, Galle Fort, or nearby turtle hatcheries for unique photo opportunities.
You can also use this day as a free photography day to revisit favorite sites or simply relax and capture coastal lifestyle moments at your own pace.

Best shots: Stilt fishermen silhouettes, Galle Fort ramparts at sunset, long-exposure beachscapes.
After breakfast, drive to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s vibrant capital.
Enjoy a brief city photography tour featuring Galle Face Green, Pettah Market, Old Parliament, and Independence Square each offering colorful street scenes and urban contrasts.
Later, transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure flight, carrying unforgettable images and memories from Sri Lanka’s wilderness and shores.
Best shots: Colombo street life, skyline views, and sunset by the ocean promenade.
